Don’t panic. If your Arizona CCW permit card has been lost, stolen, or damaged, you can request a replacement card through the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS). Obtaining a replacement card is typically a straightforward process. When Should You Request a Replacement Card?

You should request a replacement Arizona CCW permit card if:

✅ Your permit card has been stolen

✅ Important information on the permit can no longer be clearly viewed

✅ If your permit is expired, you should renew your permit instead of requesting a replacement card.

Four Ways to Request a Replacement Card

There are four ways to submit a request for an Arizona CCW replacement card. If you do not have access to a computer or mobile device, you may submit your request by mail. The application will ask for your personal information and permit number. If you do not have your physical card and do not know your permit number, you may call AZDPS at 602-256-6280. An agent can look up your permit information using identifying information such as your full name and date of birth. Have a pen and paper ready so you can write down your permit number. This will help make the call faster and more efficient.

If your personal information has changed since your last permit card was issued, enter your current information on the application. For example, update your weight or hair color if either has changed. If your residential address has changed, enter your current residential address. If you have a separate mailing address, you may enter that as well. Your new permit card will be mailed to the mailing address provided. If you use a temporary mailing address, contact AZDPS after receiving your new permit card to have the mailing address updated or removed. This helps ensure future correspondence from AZDPS is sent to the correct address on file.

You will need to select your Application Type. If you choose “Replacement – Damaged” or “Replacement – Lost or Stolen,” the replacement card fee is $10, plus applicable online credit card processing and service fees. The current online total is $15.80. You may pay by credit or debit card. After submitting your request, you will receive an automated email confirmation. If you opted to receive text messages, you will also receive a text notification.

Once approved, your new permit card should arrive by USPS within approximately 10 business days. It will arrive in a plain white envelope marked “Arizona Department of Public Safety,” so be careful not to mistake it for junk mail. Please note that you will be issued a new permit number, but your expiration date will remain the same as your previously issued card.

SUBMIT REPLACEMENT APPLICATION & DROP-OFF AT AZDPS

OPTION 4: You may visit the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) Public Services Center in Phoenix to drop off your completed CCW Replacement Request Application. Before visiting, download and complete the replacement application. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., excluding Arizona state and federal holidays.

One advantage of dropping off your completed application at AZDPS is that you can pay the $10 replacement card processing fee directly at the service window using a credit or debit card. Unlike mailing your application, you do not need to obtain a cashier’s check or money order in advance.

Dropping off your application at AZDPS allows you to hand-deliver your paperwork and confirm that your application and payment have been received. Processing times vary. Simple errors or missing information may cause delays. Please allow up to 45 days for AZDPS to process your request and issue a replacement permit card.

If you mail the the renewal application, you must obtain a cashier’s check or money order may payable to “AZ DPS” for $43.00. Don’t forget to include your name and address if applicable. This way your payment matches your application if they become separated during processing.

Do I need fingerprints for Arizona CCW renewal?

No. New fingerprints are not required. They are only required if you miss the 60 day grace period and must reapply as a new applicant.

However, if you are 61 days past the expiration date, you must reapply as a new applicant. How long does Arizona CCW renewal take?

Processing times vary depending on application volume and submission method. Please give AZDPS up to 75 days to process your renewal. Online submissions are generally processed faster than mailed applications.

Is there a grace period after my Arizona CCW permit expires?

Yes. Arizona provides a 60-day grace period following your permit expiration date. If your permit has expired, you should renew as soon as possible to avoid interruptions.
