Is this a subscription?
No. It is a one-time $2.99 reminder service fee. This service is optional and not required.
How do I receive my reminder?
If you pay for the Renewal Reminder Service for $2.99, you’ll receive an instant confirmation email that includes your permit expiration date, 90-day renewal opening date, and 60-day grace period end date.
When can I renew my Arizona CCW permit?
You may start the renewal process within 90-days of the expiration date listed on your permit card. If you submit your renewal greater than 91-days, AZDPS will kick back your application. You will have to resubmit your application and pay the renewal fee again. So use this free Renewal Calculator tool to your advantage.
Is there a grace period after my Arizona CCW permit expires?
Yes. Arizona provides a 60-day grace period following your permit expiration date. If your permit has expired, you should renew as soon as possible to avoid interruptions.
If you are 61 days past the expiration date listed on your permit, you are no longer eligible to renew and must reapply as a new applicant. For additional information about expired permits and available options, visit our Renewal Resources page.

Do I need to retake the Arizona CCW training class for renewal?
No. You are not required to complete another firearms safety training course to complete your renewal with AZDPS.
Can non-residents renew an Arizona CCW permit?
Yes. Non-residents may renew an Arizona CCW permit under the same renewal requirements and timelines as Arizona residents. For additional information, visit our Renew Your Permit page.
How much does Arizona CCW renewal cost?
Arizona Department of Public Safety renewal fees are subject to change. The current online application renewal fee is $49.88 (credit card processing and service fees are included). You may pay with a credit or debit card. If you mail the the renewal application, you must obtain a cashier’s check or money order may payable to “AZ DPS” for $43.00.
How long does Arizona CCW renewal take?
Processing times vary depending on application volume and submission method. Please give AZDPS up to 75 days to process your renewal. Online submissions are generally processed faster than mailed applications.
Can I renew my Arizona CCW permit online?
Yes. Eligible permit holders may renew online through the Arizona Department of Public Safety during their renewal window. Make sure you are within the 90 day window or 60 day grace period. Please click here for more information and to submit your application online.

Can I drop off my renewal application in person?
Yes. Applications may be submitted in person to AZDPS during normal business hours. Please click here for more information.
Do I need fingerprints for Arizona CCW renewal?
No. New fingerprints are not required. They are only required if you miss the 60 day grace period and must reapply as a new applicant.
However, if you are 61 days past the expiration date, you must reapply as a new applicant. This means you must submit a new application, pay the AZDPS processing fee of $67.45, and submit new fingerprints. If you need help, visit our Resources page. Do I have to undergo another FBI background check for a renewal?
Yes. All renewal applicants must undergo another FBI background check (every 5 years). If you submitted court documents during your initial application, you should resubmit those documents again with your renewal application. This will help avoid any delays with the approval process.
What if my permit is lost or stolen?

Is the renewal calculator free?
Yes. The Arizona CCW Renewal Calculator is completely free to use. If you would like to receive a Renewal Reminder, you may pay a $2.99 one-time fee. No subscription is required. This service is completely optional for your convenience.
What is the $2.99 Reminder Service?
The optional Reminder Service for $2.99 sends an email notification when your Arizona CCW renewal window opens. The calculator itself remains free. You may visit our website as much as you like to use this free tool.
Can I get a refund if denied a permit?
AZDPS does not issue refunds if your permit application is denied. But you are welcome to reapply and pay the fees again if you wish. Just make sure you satisfy the requirements for the denial before reapplying.
Can I get prior approval?
No. There is no way to approve you before. All applicants must clear the FBI background check to be approved and issued a new Arizona CCW permit card.
Can I transfer an out of state permit?
If you are moving to Arizona, permits from other states cannot be transferred in lieu of an Arizona permit. However, a permit from another state may be enough proof that you have sufficient training to apply for an AZ CCW permit. However, on the AZPDS CWPU Application, you must attest that you have reviewed and are knowledgeable about Arizona Revised Statutes, Title 13 – Chapters 4 & 31.

Do I need to notify AZDPS of an address change?
Yes, you must notify AZDPS within 10 days of changing your address. Just fill out the address change form online or call AZDPS at 602-256-6280. The agent will manually update the address in their system and the change is immediate.
